Overview
Founded in 1983 as a small school focused on training engineers and architects in the field of computer-aided engineering, the institution changed its name in 2002 to University of Advancing Technology (UAT) after recognizing that technology is not exclusive to computers. Heavily involved with advances in computer graphics and unique approaches to technology education, UAT currently offers 20 undergraduate degrees and 5 graduate degrees in advancing technology disciplines, including Advancing Computer Science, Emerging Technologies, Game Production and Management, Information Assurance and Technology Leadership. The school strives to educate students in the fields of advancing technology to become innovators of the future.

The contemporary, engaging campus environment is designed for technophiles and is dedicated to well-rounded collegiate education emphasizing the values of digital citizenship, the nurturing of thinking skills, and the completion of complex student works. The intellectual atmosphere encourages a wide range of multidisciplinary technology, research and innovation creations. The campus building features classrooms, computer labs and computing commons outfitted with approximately 300 computer workstations and an extensive technology infrastructure. The learning and resource areas are designed to foster working in collegial groups, providing flexibility and much needed access to technology. The courses--balanced between theory, individual research and practical application to provide a solid foundation of experience for advancement in an evolving field--develop critical evaluation skills to extend knowledge into fresh, original areas of inquiry and scholarship.

This program captures the fluid movement of software development to advance the field further through cutting edge research and applications. Prospective software developers learn new algorithmic structures, code metaphors and programming languages to create new architectures and paradigms in software design. Students of this program delve into Emerging Technologies/EmTech, which focuses on foreseeing, creating, and managing rapidly changing and emerging technology products and services. The curriculum provides literacy across six exciting and transformative technology clusters: Information Technologies, AI and Robotics; Physical Sciences, Engineering and Nanotech; Energy, Resources, and Greentech; Biotech, Medicine and Enhancement; Social, Economic and Political Technologies; Military, Security, and Transparency Technologies. Participants learn how to identify, forecast, and assess emerging technology opportunities and threats, to assess and improve your organization's innovation practice and culture, and to bring foresight to business strategy and planning teams. Graduates acquire the professional expertise to work in technology foresight, innovation or strategy roles within startup, corporate, nonprofit, consulting, government, military, security, assessment, policy, journalism, education and other organizations.
