Tulsa Welding School

Overview
For more than 60 years since its 1949 founding, the Tulsa Welding School has been an educational institution that prepares students for welding and inspection careers in a multitude of welding specialties and applications. It is the largest accredited welding school in the nation, with campuses in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jacksonville, Florida. On a mission to produce "World Class Welders and Welding Inspectors," TWS trains graduates for the skills, knowledge, and the workplace attitudes essential to enter the profession of welding or inspection.

Student Appeal
Perhaps the most appealing benefits of a TWS program is that it only takes 7 months. Students spend one day in class and four days a week in the shop receiving hands-on training and instruction from the best instructors in the industry. As the largest accredited welding school in the U.S., the school has graduates working in a variety of industries throughout the world and provides every student with a support team dedicated to their success, from housing support to temporary job assistance to graduate job placement.

Financial
Tulsa Welding School participates in federal financial assistance programs, including Federal Stafford and Federal Plus Loans. A variety of financial options to help students pay for training is also available, featuring a zero-interest payment plan, institutional scholarships, outside scholarships, and assistance from third-party agencies.

Programs Offered:
  • Master WelderMaster Welder
    This program takes students from developing a solid foundation of welder career responsibilities and basic skills to mastering welding procedures and proficiencies such as cutting metal plates, performing overlap beads in various plate positions, beginning fillet welds for plate T-joints, and more. Graduate are qualified for entry-level positions in structural, pipe, thin alloy and/or pipeline welding, as well as aerospace/aviation, shipyards, boilers fabrication, heavy machinery fabrication, etc.
  • Structural WelderStructural Welder
    Students learn SMAW welding process, welding codes, rod selection, reading basic blueprints, calculating dimensions and completing layouts. In addition, the courses covered advanced projects in blueprint and layout, plate welding in various positions using 6010 electrodes for stringer and 7018 electrodes for remainder, Fluxcore welding procedures, and pipe bevel preparation.
  • Welding TechnologyWelding Technology
    Prospective students must first complete the Master Welder program before enrolling in this Associate of Occupational Studies program. The courses are dedicated to training for Welding Quality Assurance/Quality Control Inspector, with instruction focusing on Nondestructive Testing techniques in addition to topics ranging from applied symbols to codes & specifications of radiographic film interpretation.
