Overview
St. Petersburg College opened its doors in 1927 as Florida's first community college. The school quickly expanded, merging with other junior colleges and becoming part of Florida's public college system. By the 1990's, SPC had 10 learning centers around the state; in the early 2000's it expanded its academic offerings to 24 baccalaureate programs. Along with its in-house degree programs, SPC now partners with other accredited private and public colleges, to offer 60 bachelor's degrees and 29 graduate programs.
