Electronics is a quickly changing and growing field, and today's technicians need to have the skills and knowledge to adapt. Southwest Institute of Technology meets these needs with two programs specifically tailored to prepare students to meet tomorrow's challenges today. Graduates of the Digital Electronics Technician Program earn a diploma and graduates of the Electronics Technology Program are awarded an Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) Degree. This program aims to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge they need to succeed in entry-level employment positions in the electronics field. Graduates acquire the areas of analyzing and repairing of DC and AC circuits, electronic assembly, instrumentation measurement, communication electronics, circuit test technician skills, digital electronic technician skills, advanced microprocessor application and more. An understanding of robotics as how it relates to basic electronics is also included.

In this program, students acquire entry-level skills in areas including analyzing and repairing of DC and AC circuits, electronic assembly, instrumentation measurement, communication electronics and more. Graduates are able to work as entry level technicians in a wide variety of fields including telecommunications and semiconductor manufacturing.
