Overview
The Savannah College of Art and Design is an affiliate that has sister schools in Hong Kong, Lacoste, and Atlanta. It is a privately owned and operated University system, and the Georgia campus is located in historic downtown Savannah. Eight separate schools offer a wide variety of degree program options: School of Building Arts, School of Communication Arts, School of Design, School of Fashion, School of Film, Digital Media, and Performing Arts, School of Fine Arts, School of Foundational Studies, and the School of Liberal Arts. Both undergraduate and graduate programs are offered, and classes tend to concentrate on professional artistic development.

- BA in Graphic DesignBA in Graphic Design
The Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design is one of the most popular undergraduate programs at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and students will have to complete 180 credit hours satisfactorily in order to successfully earn their bachelor's degree. It is very similar to the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, except that it does not require that students complete a portfolio and offers slightly less time in the studio and slightly more time in business and technology-oriented classes.

The Bachelor of Fine Art in Graphic Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design is a four-year, full-time degree program, requiring completion of 180 credit hours. The school's curriculum is relatively inflexible, and students are required to take 35 core curriculum credits in such subjects as drawing, design, and color theory, as well as 55 credit hours that satisfy general education requirements. Finally, 17 major-oriented classes will be required, six of which are electives and one class that allows students to create an artistic portfolio.

This forty-five credit hour Masters of Arts in Motion Media Design program can be completed in one year, and is available in the online format. Students are required to complete a fixed curriculum, which will include such classes as Screen Design & Topography, Motion Analysis and Application, Interactive Web Design, Contemporary Art, Media Theory and Application, Motion Media Cinematography and Editing, and Visualization and Concept Storyboarding. In addition to succeeding in these classes, students will have to submit a graduate portfolio that includes three motion pieces and 5-10 pieces of original graphic art.

Students who are seeking a Masters of Fine Arts in Graphic Design will be expected to complete a graduate portfolio that demonstrates their mastery of essential design skills. This portfolio must include examples of the student's work in multi-page projects like magazines, catalogues, and annual reports, and must demonstrate a student's capability to use PhotoShop, Illustrator, Quark, InDesign, Dreamweaver, and Flash. Additionally, students will take a courseload comparable to that of students seeking an MA in Graphic Design, but their work will focus more on creative design and less on technology.

The Certificate in Digital Publishing is offered through the same program at Savannah College of Art and Design as the graphic design degrees. Earning the certificate requires that students complete only five courses: Typography I, Vector and Raster Graphics, Digital Page and Web Graphics, Graphic Design Studio I, and either Production Design or Web Design. This entire program can be completed online in one or two semesters.
