Some PCU programs are condensed versions of programs offered in medical universities in China and are not only of a very high quality but also do not take as long to complete. This comprehensive program trains students to treat disharmony and disease through the application of needles to specific points on a patient's body. This program places emphasis on the theoretical and practical aspects of Acupuncture. Graduate acquire detailed theoretical knowledge of the meridian system and acupoints as well as the clinical and therapeutic application of acupuncture.
- Doctor of Traditional Chinese MedicineDoctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Following completion of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner Program, students are eligible to take the Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine Program. At this level, students will follow advanced-level courses in Western Medicine, TCM Clinical Sciences, Traditional Chinese Classics, TCM Clinical Training as well as General Studies. This focus reflects the progress from learning clinical theories and skills to critical analysis of TCM Philosophy and conducting TCM research.
The clinical internship courses of the program provide the student with opportunities that transition from conducting supervised patient evaluations, diagnosis and treatments on patients to independent practice.
Graduates of this program will be well-prepared to write the Provincial licensing examination. They will also be eligible to apply for membership in the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists (CTCMA) of BC.
- Esthetician DiplomaEsthetician Diploma
Modern esthetics clients want more than "skin deep" beauty treatments. They want to maintain and enhance beauty as part of a larger wellness plan. PCU College of Holistic Medicine offers an esthetics program that has been designed to meet the growing educational for estheticians.
The 32-week program provides students with hands-on training for basic and advanced esthetic techniques such as skin care, nail care, makeup application, and hair removal. Students will learn various techniques used to decrease tension and promote relaxation, such as Swedish massage, Chinese massage/tuina, and aromatherapy. In addition, students will be taught to approach beauty holistically through components that provide an in-depth knowledge of the human body and emphasize overall health and wellness. Upon completion of this program, students will be presented with an Esthetician diploma.
- Registered Massage TherapyRegistered Massage Therapy
The comprehensive Registered Massage Therapy program at PCU College of Holistic Medicine will train you for a career in this growing healthcare field. You'll study human anatomy, physiology, nutrition and pathology. You'll also cover the essential practices of massage and learn how they're used to treat a wide range of conditions and promote wellness. You'll work with clients in the supervised Student Clinic and put your new skills and abilities to the test. This program meets the competencies listed by the College of Massage Therapists of BC (CTMBC) Occupational Competency Profile. As a graduate, you will be prepared to write the CMTBC registration examinations, as well.

Following completion of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner Program, students are eligible to take the Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine Program. With advanced coursework in TCM and an extensive internship component, graduates of this program will be capable of challenging the Dr. TCM licensing examinations through the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists (CTCMA of BC).
- Traditional Chinese Medicine PractitionerTraditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner
This program is intended for a wide range of students including those who are completely new to the field and those who want to increase their knowledge and client base. This program requires 3 years to complete, and students take courses on topics and therapies including acupuncture, Chinese herbs, tui-na massage, qi gong, tai ji, diet therapy and western medicine. This is a more intense and condensed version of the 5-year programs offered in medical universities in China.
- Tuina/AnmoTuina/Anmo
This program trains students in the ancient art of Chinese Tuina / Anmo in addition to providing students with a strong foundation in the Traditional Chinese Medicine approach to healthcare. Applicants must be at least in their senior year of high school before they can apply for the one year diploma program. Graduates are able to practice in a Chinese Tuina / Anmo Clinic, Health Salon or Healing Centre.
- Spa PractitionerSpa Practitioner
The Spa Practitioner program at PCU College has been designed to train practitioners to meet the needs of the public as well as the constantly evolving standards of education for spa practitioners in North America. Drawing from Eastern Philosophy and traditional Western spa techniques, the program delivers a well-rounded education as it prepares students to step into the spa practitioner role. Students study structural anatomy and movement of bones and muscles. They also learn about basic human physiology with special focus on the various systems of the body and the relationships between them. Prior to completion of this program, students have an opportunity to apply their training and gain hands on experience in a spa setting during a four-week practicum period.
