Overview
Particularly dedicated to serving its states large Hispanic population (just over half of the incoming Freshman class is represented by Hispanic students), New Mexico State University is a large public university located in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Active Greek Life and athletic communities draw applicants to the school year after year, though it is able to admit approximately 95% of its applicants. Students can choose to study at the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Agriculture, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences, the College of Education, the College of Business, the College of Engineering, or the College of Health and Social Services.

State residents will pay much lower tuition rates than they would at an academically comparable public university, and it houses the only Honors College- an exclusive college program- in the State of New Mexico. Students who are pursuing a Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University must choose one of three avenues- 24 credit hours plus a Master's Thesis, 27 Credit Hours plus an Oral Examination, or 30 credit hours plus a written examination. Required courses include communications, Microelectronics, Electro-optics, Electric Energy Systems, and Digital Signal Processing. A number of rules guide a students curriculum decisions, and students will work with advisors to ensure that their coursework is meeting all requirements.
