Overview
Morehead State University is a Public University in the State of Kentucky, meaning that much of the school's funding is a result of tax revenue. Its online course offerings are among the fastest growing in the state, especially among public universities, but 87% of classes are currently taught in a traditional classroom format, while 12% are taught in an entirely online format. The school, which was founded in 1887, now offers over 200 undergraduate and graduate program options, and emphasizes smaller class sizes and practical learning.
Student Appeal
Morehead particularly has a reputation for providing excellent teacher training, and many of its traditional major options- including chemistry, mathematics, music, art, English, and biology- offer students specialization options in teaching. Because the campus is smaller than most public universities, students have the opportunity to build relationships with their teachers, while still paying lower tuition than they would at a private institution.
