Lake Forest Graduate School of Management

Overview
Founded in 1946 through a partnership of leading Chicago area businesses, Lake Forest Graduate School of Management (LFGSM) focuses solely on creating effective business leaders. As a graduate school of business, LFGSM is run as a business, priding itself on its high-performance, yet employee-centric culture, and an unwavering commitment to the customer intimacy model that sets it apart from other business schools in the Chicago area. LFGSM has extended its renowned graduate business education online through an innovative iMBA program that adheres to the school's goal — to improve the competence, confidence and ability of working professionals who can in turn make significant business contributions.

Student Appeal
Students benefit from direct access to the school's 100% practitioner faculty of industry leaders and successful business professionals from top Chicago-area companies. Even the enrollees in a typical class average 13 years of professional experience. Students acquire practical knowledge that they can use right away in small, dynamic classes. The iMBA is completely online, offered with the same high level of meaningfulness, practicality, and business relevance as the on-campus MBA program but without the hassle of physical attendance.

Financial Aid
LFGSM participates in the Federal Family Educational Loan Program which provides students with both subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford loans. Graduate PLUS loans are also available.

A 12-course program that culminates with a capstone experience, the Immersion MBA (iMBA) is 100% online and provides not only a unique learning experience, but support as well throughout the program to ensure success in both academics and application. The concept immerses students in a virtual company in which they learn dynamic, realistic business world scenarios through interaction with colleagues online, while creating a "case history" that enables the development of decision-making and leadership abilities. The simulation is a company, industry, and marketplace carefully modeled after an existing American organization, with a roster of "virtual individuals" of various backgrounds, beliefs, and agendas expectant of a typical American business. Enrollees work individually and in teams, supported by faculty mentors and practitioner mentors. The six-step learning process takes participants from observation of the virtual managers and employees, to marketing products, finally to contextualization where students interact with one another and learn from practicing professionals about practical business and ethical issues. The coursework also includes career counseling content designed to guide them through self-assessment exercises and practical career advice.
