Overview
Founded in 1993, Florida Gulf Coast University is one of the newest additions to Florida's public college system. This comprehensive university awards associate's through doctoral degrees in colleges of arts and sciences, education, health professions, professional studies, business, and engineering. Reflecting its recent founding and location on Florida's Nature Coast, the university's mission explicitly names environmental sustainability as one of its core principles. The school has extended its mission as a comprehensive educational institution into online learning, with several degree and certificate programs available 100% online.
Student Appeal
Online courses were integrated into the FGCU curriculum just a few years after the university opened its doors; students have the unique opportunity to attend a comprehensive university that has grown up with online learning, so to say. FGCU degrees are also a steal at Florida's low public tuition rates.
Accreditation
Florida Gulf Coast University has regional accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
