Located in Arlington, VA, the Court Reporting Institute of Arlington is a branch campus of the Court Reporting Institute of Dallas that was founded in 1978. The school offers only academic programs related to court reporting in order to produce qualified court reporters.

This 120-week program focuses on preparing students to become Certified Shorthand Reporters. Through coursework, enrollees strive to develop their machine shorthand speed up to 225 words a minute and typing speed to 50 net w.p.m., while building a solid foundation in English grammar and punctuation, legal and medical terminologies, anatomy, psychology, speech, courtroom and deposition procedures, and transcription via computer. Graduates are able to make suggestions regarding proper procedure, do research for items in the official record, and most importantly, provide real-time transcription/captioning. They often seek employment as an official court reporter, freelance or deposition reporter, or as a captioner.
