  • Medical AssistingMedical Assisting
    When patients visit a physicians office or medical care center, one of the first people to care for them is a medical assistant. During your interaction with patients your duties may include taking medical histories and vital signs, explaining treatment procedures, preparing patients for the physician's examination and assisting the physician during the exam. You may also collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests and administer medications as needed by the physician. In addition to the basic coursework and training that ATA offers to prospective medical assistants, we also provide the following benefits: • An Occupational Associate Medical Professional Degree • CPR Certification for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association • Fundamentals of medical diagnostic techniques • An introduction to medical insurance coding and claim processing • An externship in a medical facility*
  • Medical CodingMedical Coding
    Each time a patient receives treatment, a detailed record is maintained containing observations, medical or surgical interventions and treatment outcomes. In addition, patients provide information including family history, x-ray and lab results and treatment plans. Coders are responsible for assigning a code to each specific diagnosis or procedure. They consult classification manuals but also rely on their acquired knowledge of disease processes. Coders have a wide variety of career choices, including doctors' offices, hospitals, insurance companies and physician billing services.

    Licensed Limited Medical Radiographers (LMR) play an important role in the medical team by providing quality radiographs for a physician or radiologist. They may prepare patients for radiographic examinations by explaining the procedure, adjusting radiographic equipment for specific examination, placing the patient in the correct position and processing the radiograph. Licensed Limited Medical Radiographers are in high demand in the healthcare community.

  • PhlebotomyPhlebotomy
    ATA Career Education's Diploma Phlebotomy program will get you prepared and eligible to sit for several nation certification exams. Our 8 month fast track program will include both lecture and hands on labs to practice phlebotomy techniques and operate lab equipment. ATA's Phlebotomy clinical gives you the education and training needed to find a great position when you graduate.
